At Evergreen Forest School, we are an eligible provider for the Government Funded Childcare Hours for:
• 9 months – 2 years
• 2 year olds
• 3 – 4 year olds
(We welcome children from around 2 years old.)
We believe that a full day spent in our magical forest environment offers the very best experience for children’s learning, wellbeing, and development.
Daily Session Price – £55 per day
Our full daily price of £55 per day includes:
Homemade nutritious breakfast, lunch, snacks & refreshments
Woodland resources and forest school sessions
Outdoor play all day in our forest setting
Animal care and feeding (hens, geese, sheep, pigs & alpacas)
Beekeeping experiences
Tractor & trailer rides
Campfires
Musical instruments
Baking activities
Special celebrations such as fancy dress birthday parties
Everything is included for children who pay the full daily rate.
Government Funded Hours – Additional Voluntary Contribution £28 per day
For children using Government Funding Hours:
• Food and forest school resources are not covered by the funding
• A voluntary contribution of £28 per day applies to cover:
- Meals & refreshments
- Forest resources
- Animal experiences
- Outdoor activities and special sessions
This contribution helps us continue running our unique forest nursery, as the government funding rate does not meet the true cost of providing high-quality childcare and experiences.
If you are unable to afford the voluntary contribution, or do not wish to pay it, please speak to the manager confidentially to discuss your situation.
Important Information About Government Funding
The government currently pays nurseries approximately £5.70 per hour, which does not cover our operating costs.
Please also note:
• Funding does not cover school holidays – we are open all year round (except Christmas to New Year week)
• The 30 hours are made up of:
15 “Universal” hours – available to all 3–4 year olds
15 “Extended” hours – subject to eligibility (working parents, income requirements etc.)
Eligibility conditions are set by the government.
Parent Responsibilities
• Parents must reapply for their 30-hour funding code every 3 months
• Failure to reconfirm can result in loss of extended hours
• Funding can be stretched across the year, but eligibility may change term by term
Once funding hours are allocated and the Lancashire County Council funding portal closes, hours cannot be transferred to another provider.
Parents may also use Tax-Free Childcare alongside funded hours.
We operate on a one-month notice contract.

Our Holiday Club runs in line with Lancashire County Council school holidays and is available for children aged 4 – 12 years.
