Our Play-Yard

Does your child love playing outdoors in the fresh air? Do the like exploring in the woods and jumping in puddles?

The forest based setting at our nursery helps to encourage the development of children across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), especially personal, social and emotional development:; communication and language; and physical development.

Personal, Social and Emotional

The main area at our nursery has numerous fun and exciting areas for our children to explore in, take on roles and let their imaginations run wild. This is an important factor for children to help them build and make relationships, gain self confidence and to start understanding their own feelings/behavior.

Communication and Language

Our outdoor setting provides plenty of opportunities for children to ask questions; Who made that noise? What tree is that? Why are the leaves falling form the trees? When will the seeds grow? How can I climb up the tree? The outdoors is an exceptional setting which can help children to gain listening & attention skills, expand their vocabulary and understanding.

Physical Development

The main woodland area is going to be gaining a a sensory garden after the New Year, this will help to encourage children to use all their senses and experience different types of movements, explore different textures and smells. This outdoor space allows children to gain knowledge about health & self-care. Children will take part in snack activities where they pour their own drinks and learn about healthy eating. Children will be encouraged to take part in being active (not that this is needed outdoors) and this can lead to learning opportunities that how their bodies feel and work!
